Genre Snobs
To all of those who only listen to one genre of music and bash everything else, you know nothing about music. I am especially talking to you death metal freaks. You don’t have to like anything else but stop bashing it. A true music lover embrases the good in all music. I know there is mounds of crap out there but each genre has something you can learn from. Don’t be afraid to slap on a Barry Manilow record when your friends are over hanging out.
For a long time I used to bash pop music, but I am learning to listen to it for what it was originally intended. Pop artists used to perform for the joy of music and there is a hint of that joy in the music they play on the radio and MTV.
The other day I heard a metal head bashing an “emo” band. When you take the label from the music you can’t even tell the difference between metal and the so called “emo” band that he was bashing.
So to all you genre snobs… pull your head out and stop being afraid of what your friends might think when they see Air Supply on your iPod.

It’s not the management that decided not to keep metal at the Totah. It was the fans. You said yourself that the Totah has the most beautiful stage in the Four Corners. When I have to clean graffiti off the bathroom stalls, scrub blood off the walls, bang dents out of the grills of my monitors and patch cuts made to the seating… that is what is keeping metal out of the Totah. LACK OF RESPECT for the venue. It ONLY happens at metal shows.
I love ALL types of music. I especially love heavy rock (not into the scream thing though.) I would love ALL types of music to be played on the Totah’s stage. I do not however, want to keep dumping money into the theatre because of vandalism. Metal shows end up costing the Totah money. You cannot operate a business and keep putting on shows when they don’t make money.
I hope you can understand where I am coming from. It is not the music… it is the fans. If metal fans can learn some respect, then they can have the opportunity to listen to their favorite music in the best venue there is.
Thanks for your input. I do understand where you are coming from. I just hope you can understand where I am coming from.

there are people who have preferences when it comes to music. some love metal while others like classic. but even with the differences in genre, you should respect each others and stop saying that “mine is better than yours” because they are just the same music how ever different they may sound.
